Welcome to Camp Avenue!   Camp Avenue elementary school, built in 1923 with two subsequent expansions, is celebrating its eighty-sixth birthday.  It is the three story "grand dame" of the North Merrick school community.  All of us are proud of our students' successes, both academically and socially.  Our philosophy of being kind, caring, and helpful to everyone, is augmented by the importance of children learning to always include others.  The Camp Ave. School faculty and staff would like to extend best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year.  The start of 2010 brings much excitement, including PTA and Cultural Arts Programs, and school / district events.  Please be sure to watch the school calendar for upcoming dates. Congratulations are sent to the Camp Ave. School PTA on several highly successful fund raisers.  The Goods and Services Auction provided an enjoyable evening out with friends.  The bid items and/or gift baskets were in high demand!  Shortly thereafter, the Camp students visited the annual Holiday Boutique – table upon table of gifts and crafts to browse.  Lastly, the holiday poinsettia sale was a great success.  We are now planning the next book fair event. Please note - Incoming Kindergarten parents should plan to register their child for the 2010-2011 school year on January 26th or January 27th at Fayette School.  Parents of 5th and 6th grade students will be receiving notice of the upcoming Growth and Development Parent Meetings to take place in late January.  Follow-up lessons with the students will be scheduled to take place in February.  Additionally, Kindergarten students will receive their first Report Card on February 4th.  Many thanks to the Camp Ave. School community for your ongoing support; the strong home – school partnership remains the cornerstone of a comprehensive educational experience.
