Welcome to Camp Avenue Elementary School. Situated on Merrick Avenue, the southernmost school in North Merrick Union Free School District, we serve approximately 540 kindergarten through sixth grade students. Staffed with highly trained teachers and support personnel, out mission is to provide a high quality educational experience across all curriculum areas.
North Merrick UFSD takes pride in maintaining “best practices.” A rigorous staff development plan has yielded outstanding results, including a primary level balanced literacy approach, expanded use of technology and writer’s workshop.
The intermediate level teachers have the benefit of new math resources, providing a good balance of basic skills with higher level problem solving. Additionally, North Merrick UFSD has implemented comprehensive assessment protocols, providing timely and meaningful data that is used to plan future instruction.
Camp Avenue School maintains a friendly environment. Community involvement remains the cornerstone of activities. As educators, we value the support of parent volunteers. Moreover, the Camp Avenue School PTA remains an active and integral part of our day to day operations, taking note of such events as the Welcome Back to School Barbecue, the Fall Festival, cultural arts assemblies and generous gifts to the school.
