It is with great excitement and pride that I write to you as the principal of the Harold D. Fayette School. Fayette is a very special place. As an educator for nearly thirty years, no doubt that working with the Fayette community is the most rewarding experience of my career. The sense of community that permeates the building helps impact the high quality of education each child receives.

There are approximately 300 students in grades K-6. We provide a rigorous academic program for our youngsters. At Fayette we instill the love of learning so that all students will become lifelong learners.  We are extremely proud of the quality of education that the children  receive.  We are also committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment.  

Fayette has a strong mission of educating the whole child.  Our devoted and enthusistic staff helps support the high academic standards that are set to the teaching of core content areas.  The content areas are augmented by exciting educational experiences in science, the arts, technology and character education.  We are proud to have a growing number of SMARTBOARDS in classrooms and our computer lab which enrich the teaching of the curriculum. Our music program is second to none with many of our students participating in programs including All-County.

The PTA is a supportive and hardworking organization. The PTA offers many fine programs including wonderful assemblies, PARP programs, and special events like the Fall Festival and FUN DAY. 

Our Student Council leads the way in student activities that build on our solid character education program. Our Student Council is involved in numerous projects that reaches out to the community, such as Valentines for Vets, along with food, toy and coat drives to support the less fortunate.

Together all constituencies work tirelessly as partners to provide an educational environment that is caring, nurturing and motivating for all students.  We look forward on embarking with the entire Fayette community in our mission in continuing to make the Harold D.Fayette School a shining star in North Merrick.
