Fourth grade students with Ms. Blacker from the Old Mill Road School Library had a videoconference with fourth grade students and Mrs. Mantle from the Camp Avenue Library.
The videoconference consisted of two fourth grade classes taking turns sharing their original cinquain poetry written prior to the videoconference.
The poems described a fictional story character using vivid language using parts of speech, without divulging the character’s name.
After carefully listening to the poem each student presented, students from the other side of the videoconference used the clues to guess the name of the fictional story character.
Higher-level thinking skills were used throughout the creation of this project and the interaction of our technology via videoconferencing enhanced our usage of distant learning.
The children had a lot of fun, and so did Ms. Blacker and Mrs. Mantle!
