Dear Parent(s) and Community Member(s):
I am very pleased to announce the unveiling of our redesigned website. You can access our website by using our new address at http://www.nmerrickschools.org.
Features in our new website will enable district staff and the Board of Education to provide the community with timely and useful information. In addition, we will be to communicate instant alerts of an important nature (i.e. school closings, event cancellation, student and faculty awards, etc.).
We invite you to explore the many new features of our website when you visit. I would, however, like to point out a few important aspects of the new site, which should prove to be valuable:
Ø Superintendent’s Page – You will find copies of the letters that I send out to the community, including my Superintendent’s Newsletter. In addition, I will be including a Superintendent’s Challenge (an educational challenge for students to voluntarily participate in).
Ø Calendar – District and school calendars are located on the website. Events of the week are highlighted on the Home page.
Ø Staff Directory – Our entire staff directory is available and can be sorted in any number of ways (i.e. by grade level, school, or discipline).
Ø News and Events – The Home page also includes “Breaking News”, which will direct you to links providing more detailed information.
Ø Finance and Budget – We will post important fiscal information as we move forward. Currently, as a reminder to the community, we have provided a tab on the Home page which serves as a reminder regarding the Middle Class STAR Rebate Program. This is just one example of how the website can be used to provide current news that the community can find to be of value.
Ø PTA/SEPTA – You will find information about PTA, SEPTA, and other community groups by going to the “Community” tab. Within this section you will also find timely announcements from the Parent Center, Community Wellness Center, and the Bellmore-Merrick Child Care Programs.
Please keep in mind that the new website is a “work in progress”, and we are just touching the surface of the many capabilities that this program will allow us to utilize. I welcome your feedback about the website and will certainly be glad to receive any comments or suggestions. These can be made by accessing the “Contact” section on the site.
I’ve enjoyed collaborating with Ms. Beth Friedman, Deputy Superintendent for Instruction and Personnel, and our administrative team in the development of our new website.
