ESL Parents' Bill of Rights
English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner Parent Resources
As a second language provider it is my goal for your child to be able to develop his or her full language potential. You can support your child by understanding your rights as a parent of an English Language Learner. You can access information and get questions answered that involve your child's/childrens' program.
The New York State Education Department's Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) has created an English Language Learner Parents' Bill of Rights which summarizes critical rights concerning educational access and programming for ELLs and their parents. These key rights are summarized in an easy to reference one page format and have been translated into nine languages.
