At the beginning of 1st grade, all students will be informally screened for articulation errors. If a student meets the criteria, he or she will be eligible to receive speech improvement services. Older students who have been receiving speech improvement in the prior year will also be re-evaluated to determine if continuation of services is warranted.
Speech Improvement is planned on 10-week cycles. Students are re-evaluated every 10 weeks to determine current level of performance and if continuation of services is required. These assessments are conducted on an informal basis and continuation or discharge decisions are based on experienced, professional opinions. Parents and/or guardians will be informed well in advance of these individual decisions.
