Friday Message from the Superintendent:
First and foremost, on my behalf and that of the Board of Education, central administration, principals, teachers, and staff, please know that we are thinking of you and your family during this very difficult time. In our daily conversations with one another, we all conclude with the same thought - how much we miss your children!
Since first writing this message, we have learned that the Governor has extended school closure for all New York State school districts until April 15 (and North Merrick will remain closed during the scheduled spring recess that week until April 20). No matter how long the school closure, the North Merrick administration, faculty, and staff will work each day to improve on our distance learning and communication platforms, which keep us connected and in touch with students and families. We will continue to partner with you to engage our students in learning and harness the technology tools to make that happen.
Coming together as a community dedicated to doing our best for students is at the foundation of the North Merrick School District. I am truly honored to work side by side with the North Merrick Board of Education, administrators, teachers and staff, and especially with you, our parents and students. I'm sending you a collective virtual hug!
It is the mission of the North Merrick School District to work cooperatively with our schools, parents and community to develop individuals who are respectful, resilient and responsive with a fluency in technology and divergent thinking skills.
