WINGS (Widening Interest Through New Experiences for Gifted Students), the district's elementary enrichment program for gifted and talented students, is a pull-out program that serves fourth, fifth and sixth graders.  During these three years, WINGS students work within groups and/or individually in an accelerated and challenging academic environment in which opportunities are designed to develop research skills and encourage independent thinking, critical and evaluative solution finding, and creative-problem solving. Each student's interests, talents and varied learning styles are addressed in an open atmosphere where questioning and "no one right answer" is the key to fostering intellectual risk-taking and the development of a growth mindset. In this multi-dimensional program that taps into varied proclivities and curiosities, students are invited to dive deeply to explore varied themes in literature and to design solutions to problems that require extensive investigation and creative thinking.
