Camp Avenue converses with out-of-state pen pals

Camp Avenue converses with out-of-state pen pals

Second graders in Taylor Savoca’s class participated in the Great Mail Race, which pairs second grade classes throughout the United States as pen pals. Ms. Savoca’s class received a letter from a class in Rockville, Maryland inquiring about facts surrounding Camp Avenue and the state of New York. Each student completed a letter and sent them out to the school in Maryland along with a small New York-themed gift. On April 19, the class was excited to virtually meet their pen pals through a video call. Lessons surrounding the Great Mail Race taught students about the terrain and landmarks found in each state throughout the country.
