Camp Avenue School’s annual Book Fair boosts love of literacy

Students at Camp Avenue Elementary School in the North Merrick School District celebrated a love of literacy as they explored a diverse selection of books during the annual Book Fair hosted by the PTA on Feb. 26.

Classes visited the fair during scheduled times, giving the students a chance to browse a wide range of titles that spanned fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels and biographies. With help from parents in the PTA, students selected books – as well as a fun array of knick-knacks – that matched their interests and reading levels. Learning the importance of financial planning, each selection fit within students’ budget. Through events such as the Book Fair, North Merrick Schools continue to foster strong reading habits as a vital component of student success and lifelong learning.
