Competition and camaraderie create enriching experiences at Fayette School

Whether it was flexing their engineering know-how or expressing themselves through works of art, students throughout Harold D. Fayette Elementary School in the North Merrick School District were highly engaged during a special day of activities on Nov. 26.

Classes throughout the district bustle with excitement during the twice-a-year Enrichment for All event, which has each class partake in a different task that tests their skills. Peers faced off in a series of games that required strategy, like checkers and Connect Four, or worked collaboratively to complete puzzles and engineer solutions to real life problems. Adding wheels to plastic building blocks, students created a functional vehicle that can travel. A makeshift racetrack in the hallway showed students whose vehicle could go the farthest.
