Students and teachers once again filled the classrooms and hallways of Camp Avenue, Harold D. Fayette and Old Mill Road elementary schools in the North Merrick School District as they returned for the first day on Sept. 2. 

Friends were reunited, assigned desks were occupied and school supplies were unpacked as classes gathered for the first time. Ice breaker activities and tours to each schools’ library, playground and cafeterias helped ensure a smooth start for kindergartners. The thrilling first day helped build an exciting outlook on the year ahead.
