New students get warm welcome at North Merrick’s ‘Meet, Greet and a Treat’

North Merrick students received a sweet start to the school year along with a warm welcome from their teachers during the annual Meet, Greet and a Treat event on Aug. 29.

All faculty and staff at Camp Avenue, Harold D. Fayette and Old Mill Road Elementary Schools stood at tables in front of their buildings waiting for students making their first steps toward an exciting new adventure. Teachers greeted students and parents, alleviating nerves before the first day of school. Students received a pencil case complete with pencils, a bookmark and wristbands with the message, “You got this!” The cheerful event was a positive start to what will be a thrilling year.
