North Merrick’s young performers prep for ‘Alice in Wonderland Jr.’

Sixth graders from across the North Merrick School District have fallen down the rabbit hole into an adventurous new world as they are hard at work preparing for their rendition of “Alice in Wonderland.”

Rehearsals are underway at the Brookside School by students from Camp Avenue, Old Mill Road and Harold D. Fayette elementary schools. Dozens of the young performers are practicing lines and songs to bring the story’s colorful characters to life, from the curious Alice to the energetic Mad Hatter and the ever-hurried White Rabbit. As the show comes together, students are learning the value of teamwork, confidence and creativity.

The premiere performances – which features Stefania Yanpolski, Eleni Tifigiu and Cecilia Marzigliano as Alice, Austin Medici as the White Rabbit and Viviana Klein as the Queen of Hearts – will take place on March 27 and 28 at the Brookside School (1260 Meadowbrook Rd, North Merrick) at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
