North Merrick’s Fayette School welcomes new principal

The North Merrick School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine Talbot has been warmly welcomed as the principal of the Harold D. Fayette School. She previously served as interim principal during the 2024-25 school year.

In addition to serving as interim principal at Fayette, Dr. Talbot acted as the interim principal at Old Mill Road School in 2021. That year, she was named District Supervisor of Instructional Technology, Library Media and Data, a role that had Dr. Talbot oversee students’ computer science education and host collaborative community events such as Family Literacy Month and a Community Read Along. She is a recipient of the ASSET Bright Light Award (2024) and the Nassau NASTAR Award (2022) and is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, including the LI Technology & Education Summit. Dr. Talbot received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Psychology and a master’s degree in Math, Science and Technology in Elementary Education from Hofstra University. She received a doctorate in education for Leadership, Innovation and Continuous Improvement in 2024.

“A school is the heart of its community, and I am honored to join this one,” Dr. Talbot said. “Together, we will nurture curiosity and empower our students to shine.”
