Old Mill Road graduates make the grade
The sixth grade classes at Old Mill Road School in the North Merrick School District reached a milestone on June 25, as they marked the end of their elementary school journeys during their moving up ceremony.
Sixth graders processed into the multipurpose room to the theme of “Pomp and Circumstance” led by Color Guard members Anna Kraus and Jeremy Salazar. Students sang the national anthem, as well as “Time of Our Lives” by Tyrone Wells and “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield, under the guidance of conductor Rebecca Southard. Principals Laura DeLuca and Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Seniuk welcomed families and shared their pride in the Class of 2024.
Student speakers from each class included June Larson, Lucy Congimi and Jayden Lewis. Several awards were handed out before sixth grade teachers invited their students to cross the stage and enter a new chapter. Loved ones made their pride heard as sixth graders recessed, ready for a new journey ahead.
