Students show their world knowledge in Camp Avenue’s Geography Bee

Camp Avenue Elementary School students in the North Merrick School District studied the globe in preparation of a challenging geography bee on May 20.

Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in the WINGS Program put their world-spanning knowledge to the test. While on stage in front of their peers, students were faced with a series of increasingly challenging geography-based multiple-choice questions by WINGS teacher Mara Karfinkel. All participants showed a strong performance when faced with questions such as, “What is the capital city of Canada?” In the end, students Nick Roman and Will Oetting faced off in a tie breaker, with Will emerging as the winner.
