Students take role of Reading Ambassadors at Fayette School

Volunteer students at Harold D. Fayette School in the North Merrick School District recently took on the role of Reading Ambassadors with a mission to inspire a love of reading throughout the building.

Separated into two groups of kindergarten through second graders and third graders through sixth graders, each Reading Ambassador proudly represents their class. The teams met with library media specialist Joanne Constantino, library clerk Giovanna Amarain and Principal Christine Talbot to discuss their favorite books and authors and share ideas to pursue their mission. They recommended several books to be added to the school library, including “Peppa Pig,” “Fancy Nancy” the Percy Jackson series, non-fiction football and sports books and fantasy novels. The selections are featured in the main hallway bulletin board, and additional copies will be added to the Fayette library for all students to enjoy.

“We are so proud of these student Reading Ambassadors for their enthusiasm, thoughtful participation and leadership,” Mrs. Talbot said. “Their voices and ideas help shape our school’s reading culture, and we commend them for serving as positive role models for their classmates by representing their classes.”
