WINGS Students Create 3D-Printed Mask Extenders and Inspiring Messages on QR Codes for Medical Workers
WINGS students in Patricia Black's and Maria Castle's classes participated in a special community outreach project for hospital workers.
Calling the project "Operation Frontline," the students remotely helped to design extenders for face masks so they are more comfortable for the medical staff. The extenders were produced using the district's 3D printers.
Additionally, the students created short Flipgrid videos to thank and inspire the medical workers for all they are doing to help patients during the pandemic. They included artwork and read poems or shared a moment with their pet to personalize the donation of the mask extenders.
These care packages will be sent to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, Nassau University Medical Hospital, and Cohen's Children's Hospital.
