Camp Invention Connection Inspired North Merrick Students with STEM Big Ideas

North Merrick students explored the design thinking process in the week-long online Camp Invention Connection, a STEM summer program sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Campers investigated flight principles and the inner mechanics of robots. They participated in missions to protect Earth's ecosystems and built their own designs for tabletop games and prototypes for video game controllers.  The students learned about simple machines, the power of STEM in sports, and the need for patents and trademarks to protect their big ideas!

Christine Talbot, who taught the online program for North Merrick, stated, "What an amazing week it was! The children had a blast designing inventions, collaborating, and having FUN! I know the future will be brighter because of their imaginations and problem-solving skills."
