North Merrick Is Plugged into Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code
North Merrick classes participated in the annual Computer Education Week and the international Hour of Code, held every year during the second week of December.
Computer Education Week seeks to inspire K-12 students to get excited about learning to code and to see how computer science impacts their everyday lives, school subjects, and future careers. During the Hour of Code, classes take on a variety of coding challenges in real time with students across the globe.
Students also learn about the importance of technical skills and collaboration to unlock educational opportunities in the classroom and beyond. The coding activities also focus on "algorithms" to demonstrate that they are more simply a series of instructions to follow to achieve a result.
