Parent University Family Math Night

The North Merrick School District sponsored the annual Parent University Family Math Night on October 23 at Harold D. Fayette School with an array of mathematical games and challenges. Families enjoyed guessing their heights by counting up red apples, creating intricate patterns from pumpkin geoboards, and getting assistance from Batman (aka Mr. Chan) in assembling “Bat Time” devices. In the Learning Edge Lab, families tinkered with robotics to engineer their own inventions, and in the art room, delighted in taking Halloween-themed photos using software and posing with a green screen! Coordinated by teachers Maria Castle and Lisa Drewes with activities supervised by North Merrick teachers, Family Math Night brought out the mathematician in parents and students alike!
