Week-Long World Read-Aloud in the North Merrick Schools
The North Merrick schools extended World Read-Aloud Day on February 1 into a week-long event starting January 25. Each class visiting the library media centers this week had the opportunity to experience the special connection when a guest shared a favorite book and read aloud to them. Students from the three schools also added their thoughts on the Span Walls on why they like to listen to books that are read aloud. World Read-Aloud Day, sponsored by Lit World, promotes literacy and a love of reading to help change the world for the better.
Camp parents were surprise guest readers in the Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) program.
HDF invited community members, such as pediatric dentist Dr. Jacklyn Lerner, to read a favorite story.
Principal Laura DeLuca took a turn as a guest reader at OMR.
