North Merrick Students and Teacher Present at Math Conference

At the How to Make Math Count Conference at Molloy College on January 12, Old Mill Road teacher Christine Moser co-presented a workshop on tips and tools to engage English Language Learners in “Place Value and the ENL Student.” Meanwhile, Camp Avenue third graders demonstrated the fun and fluency gained through kinesthetic strategies used in their classrooms in “Math and Movement.”

The conference, sponsored by the Nassau County Mathematics Teachers Association and the Nassau County Association of Math Supervisors, provided professional development through teacher-tested techniques and activities to meet the curriculum and assessment needs for grades K-8. “It was an honor for North Merrick to model best practices at this important county conference,” stated Dr. Cynthia Seniuk, Superintendent of Schools.
