Fios 1 News visited the North Merrick Schools on Tuesday, December 5, to cover a story on the innovative flexible furniture in the third grade classrooms and libraries as well as the interactive SPAN boards in the hallways in each of the three schools.
The Nureva Span boards are 40 feet long with 25 learning points and can be worked on directly at the board by touch as well as remotely by laptop. The boards are linked to both the Internet and various software programs.
The flexible furniture includes pedal desks, stand-up desks, bean bag chairs, rocker chairs, and versatile shaped tables to optimize the mind-body connection. The modular units also help students to work collaboratively as they communicate and engage in critical thinking.
